The Opportunity

This Marketing Director role is pivotal in defining and driving the overall marketing strategy that will deliver the goals of Puig Oceania through a diversified portfolio of brands in prestige fragrance and fashion, through all consumer touchpoints and managing a large budget through all paid, earned and owned channels. The role reports into the General Manager, Puig Oceania and is a member of the Leadership Team of the Puig Oceania based in Sydney, Australia.

 

The Marketing Director is a highly experienced, passionate, performance-led, and consumer‑obsessed senior marketer with strong expertise in fragrance and cosmetics. The role fosters innovation and drives category and brand disruption. He/she combines an exceptional strategic mindset, extensive digital marketing experience, and a proven track record of building business through brand equity across both widely distributed omnichannel brands and digital‑first brands. This proven leader sets the vision and direction for the function and is a champion of their team, coaching and motivating a talented group of 14.

What you'll get to do

Marketing and Consumer Engagement Strategy:

  • Define and deliver the Oceania marketing strategy by brand including retail and net sales, net operating profit, value market share and ranks, meeting individual brand guidelines.
  • With the Managing Director and the Oceania Leadership Team, identify growth opportunities, and develop strategic initiatives to drive the business by engaging key consumer target groups by brand, category and channel
  • Oversee the alignment and integration of the brands’ marketing calendar and consumer engagement activities across all media and touch points delivering an integrated 360 consumer journey through paid, earned and owned.

 

Product and Retail Marketing:

  • Define and execute distinct and innovative marketing calendars and plans through the Puig portfolio of prestige brands, for the relevant channels and with an omni approach.
  • Develop robust retail marketing strategies with each key retailer to support the consumer experience and connection to the brands at physical and digital delivering commercial momentum 
  • Provide market share objectives and retail sales ambitions, determine the portfolio’s pricing strategy, drive accurate catalogue, promotional stock and forecasting.

Consumer Engagement:

  • In collaboration with Customer Engagement Manager, develop full funnel 360 paid, earned and owned media strategy, driving innovation and establishing new relevant partnerships to further grow brand affinity and relevance. Lead the brand social media and influencer strategy as an integral part of this approach.
  • Drive performance-based marketing, developing capabilities, implementing test & learn mindset to inform strategic planning and execution.
  • Define CRM strategy and customer lifecycle programmes.
  • Drive the consumer insight strategy by delivering actionable insight to the business from ad hoc research and panel data.

Digital Education:

  • Drive innovation in education, digitalising the experience for both internal and external audiences.
  • Work collaboratively with Senior Training Manager to drive clientelling and customer analytics to improve productivity and retention
  • Promote virtual selling and services and activation of key retail moments

Retail Design and Visual Merchandising:

  • Deliver all temporary and permanent VM and store design requirements for the brands
  • Drive innovation with smart technology and VTO tools
  • Ensure Retail Excellence KPIs are set and monitored for full compliance

Collaboration, Team & Stakeholder Management:

  • Develop, coach, mentor and motivate direct report(s)
  • Lead by example to develop a high performing marketing team
  • Influence stakeholders across multiple levels of the organisation
  • Maintain solid relationships with regional and global brand teams

 

We'd love to meet you if you have

Experience:

  • Approximately 15 years+ of Brand Marketing, Category Management and operational marketing in prestige/luxury/premium/niche Brands within industries in Fragrances / Cosmetics/ Luxury Categories, with demonstrated career progression and leadership 
  • Experience in a structured omnichannel organisation
  • Digital driven marketing expert in media management, digital marketing and communication, marketing strategic planning & consumer insight, brand development and retail consumer events, in the fragrances and cosmetics universes
  • Strategic thinking and pragmatic leader with exceptional analytical skills and an ability to generate actionable insight from complex data
  • Leadership, managerial experience and ability to interact in a matrix organisation (Market / Brands / Europe HQ)
  • Sales or Trade Marketing proven experience is a plus
  • International experience is a plus

  • Degree holder in Marketing / Business Administration
  • MBA in Marketing or Business preferred.
